Beguiled (Enlightenment #2)

Beguiled (Enlightenment, #2)Beguiled by Joanna Chambers

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Beguiled picks up two years after Provoked leaves off. David is preparing for the Kings visit and runs into Lord Balfour at the tailor. The feelings between them are like two years have never passes. David has done a bit of growing up over these two years however, and his reaction to Lord Balfour are not as filled with self loathing as they were previously.

Filled with romance and a great storyline, this one will grab you from the beginning and keep you interested til the very end. Its not all about the romance tho, there is a bit of intrigue and a damsel in distress that needs saving. We also are filled in on what's been going on during the two years they've been apart as well as more of David's background.

Overall, a great read and some very hot scenes but no so many as to take away from the story. I loved the ending and can't wait to continue with the next part.

Divine Fornication

Divine Fornication-The Complete Collection (An Erotic Story of Angels, Vampires and Werewolves)Divine Fornication-The Complete Collection by Aimélie Aames

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wow! What a ride! (Only for those over 18)

Divine Fornication is an erotic adventure like no other. Its definitely not for the feint of hear as much of it is very dark and deliciously twisted.

Claire is left blind in a car accident that kills her parents. She learns to make her way alone and in the darkness til a second accident claims her life. In her fall down an elevator shaft she is taken by an angel and given her sight back as well as her life saved along with a special gift. Afterward she is fought over by creatures of the dark for her beauty and special gift.

If you are looking for a book that has characters with depth and a storyline with great meaning, this isn't it. But its a deliciously dark erotic read that has plenty of hot scenes albeit some a bit twisted, even a hit of bestiality as werewolves take hold of Claire.

I enjoyed this read but I am one that enjoys a read a bit on the strange side and this one is that. Not for everyone as this is no common romance but rather a walk on the dark side.

The Chase

The Chase (The Marechal Chronicles #4)The Chase by Aimélie Aames

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

OMG What a cliffhanger! Love this series!

Melisse and the Marachel have parted ways as the story continues after the last installment in the Marechal Chronicles. Melisse continues on her way across the mountains and the Marechal is drowning his sorrows in cheap wine after she leaves him with a broken heart.

Melisse crosses paths with an elderly gypsy woman that reveals the path that she must take and answers to questions about the past she runs from. At the heart of all the mysteries contained in the chronicles is the mysterious Alchemist's Tower that is surrounded by a ring of doom. All the while is the trouble brewing in the home of the Estrils, beings of flame and light. All these threads have been delicately woven together in an erotic world with deliciously sexy characters.

I love the world that has been built complete with magic and other wordly beings as well as witches and beings of darkness. An awesome series, complete with a cliffhanger that makes you say Nooooooooo!!!!!!!!!! I need answers! I can hardly wait to continue.

The Goblin Between Her Thighs

The Goblin Between Her ThighsThe Goblin Between Her Thighs by Aimélie Aames

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is definitely not for everyone, but I loved it. The title itself makes you step back and ask yourself if you really want to read this or not.

This short story is a prequel to the Marechel Chronicles. I wish I had read this one first as its a great introduction to the series. This is a world full of magic and mystery and a lot of hot sex scenes. However, I will warn you that one scene in particular some may find disturbing.

For a short story this read contained a lot of elements. It draws you in quickly and holds your attention til the end. I hated to see the story end and am glad it continues in the chronicles. This is a world that I want to see more of.

Overall, a great read although not for everyone. For those over 18 that like something a bit different.

The Marechal Chornicles

The Marechal Chronicles: Volumes I, II, and III (An Erotic Fantasy Tale)The Marechal Chronicles: Volumes I, II, and III by Aimélie Aames

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!! This read has everything I love in a good book: hot sex, magic, fantasy, witches and erotic fire gods, as well as mystery, intrigue, and great characters. Not to mention the hot cover is great eye candy.

The very first scene grabs your attention from the very beginning as we are introduced to two fire being in a scene that's very hot in more ways than one. As the story progresses we are introduced to Melisse, the chambermaid with dreams of having more out of life, and the Marechal, the sexy, scarred lawman that is in search of a killer that removes skins.

As the story progresses we are pulled deeper into this world full of sex and magic that just makes we want to know more. This world has a bit of everything including some very sexy scenes that literally set their world on fire. My only complaint was that the end came far sooner than I wanted it to and I can't wait to continue this series.

This is not for the feint of heart and only for those over 18, but if you love erotica and paranormal romance then you should definitely pick up this series.

Provoked

Provoked (Enlightenment, #1)Provoked by Joanna Chambers

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a great historical fiction. Set in a time when it was not in any way acceptable to be gay and it was also a crime. David is an honorable man that was brought up to believe that his inclinations for other men were shameful and unnatural. He meets Lord Balfour one night and has an encounter he can't forget. Balfour is a man that accepts who he is and is determined to have everything out of life that is possible, including a family. However, he can't seem to move past their chance meeting as well.

There's more to this great read besides that very hot encounters between David and Balfour. There's also a great plot complete with spies, intrigue, and assassination attempts. The inner turmoil that David deals with is also a big part of this book and you feel for this character as he deals with these issues.

Overall, I loved this one and can't wait to continue with the next in this series. It is one for those over 18 as the scenes between David and Balfour definitely heat things up. If you enjoy M/M and historical romance you should give this series a try.

Queen of the Summer Stars

Queen of the Summer StarsQueen of the Summer Stars by Persia Woolley

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the second book in Persia Woolley's Guinevere series and I have enjoyed it every bit as much as the first. The world that Woolley has created feels very much like the world of Author and Guinevere would have been and it feels so alive its easy to get lost in.

In this second installment we find a much more mature Guinevere. She wants to move on to the next stage of her relationship with Author and start a family. Things do go as she always expected them to and she is dealing with the heartache of infertility. There is intrigue and treachery at court as Author's sister, Morgan, works against her at every turn. And later, when she learns Author's secret, there is even more heartache.

I love the relationships that have grown between the characters. Guinevere and Lancelot are both torn between the love of each other and the love for Author and their country. Relationships between other characters and complicated as well and all contribute well to the story. You find yourself immersed in the feelings of these characters and you want to know what's happening to these side stories.

Overall, its a great read full of great characters and woven in a way that draws you in and makes it hard to put down. If you enjoy tales of the round table or even just a good historical fiction than you should pick up this series.

Zombie Fairy Tales

Zombie Fairy Tales: The Complete CollectionZombie Fairy Tales: The Complete Collection by Kevin Richey

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Author Kevin Richey has done an excellent job of corrupting fairy tales that we have loved as children into something that will thrill us as adults. This is the entire collection of his Zombie Fairy Tales woven from tales such as Cinderella, Pinocchio, The Little Mermaid, and The Little Match Girl just to name a few.

All of the tales can be enjoyed separately or read in succession. Each one has something different to offer but all are well written and unique. They definitely keep your attention from start to finish.

If you love a good horror story, especially the zombie genre, then you should pick up this collection. All of the stories within are great reads, but due to the ick factor and violence of some of them I would say these are definitely not for kids.

Being Chase

Being ChaseBeing Chase by J.J. Scotts

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received a free copy of this book for an honest review.

Liam has just moved to the city, he's been cut off by his family and has few friends and no job prospects. Running out of money he takes the first job offer that he gets and isn't sure what he's in for. Turns out they want him to be the public face of an author that prefers to be unknown except by name. Chase turns out to be not very nice to say the least. He's very aggressive almost to the point of assault if Liam wasn't actually turned on by Chase.

Even though there are some sexual parts to this short story, I have trouble calling it an actual erotica because there is no sex in it. Liam is groped and there is arousal but that's as far as things go. It leaves us as frustrated as Liam is getting.

I found this book to be a bit short. Its very engaging and flows well. I love the style of writing. There just isn't enough of it, and I look forward to the next installment. I hope there is more of an explanation in the next book concerning Chase's behavior. At this point we know little about him or his motives. I'd also love to see more of his little brother, too bad he's too young as he sounds much nicer than Chase.

Overall, I liked it. Its definitely for those over 18 but not too overly explicit at this point. (sadly) But am anxious to continue the series.

Looking for the Inklings

Looking for the King (Inklings, #1)Looking for the King by David C. Downing

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Tom McCord and Laura Hartman have both ventured to England where they meet and find they have similar interests. Both are searching historical sights, Laura in search of answers for re-occurring dreams, Tom is writing a book. They seek out the aid of some very famous authors who help them get the answers they are looking for.

I really wanted to like this book. I love historical fiction and some of my favorite authors are included in it. But I can't say that I particularly enjoyed it. In the blurb it seems that Tom is searching for clues to King Author. But that doesn't turn out to be the King that is really discussed. Its very Christian/religious oriented, not that there is anything wrong with that. It just wasn't what I was expecting nor my cup of tea. I ended up skipping several passages because they really didn't pertain to the story. It felt like I was being preached to about having faith.

If you enjoy religious fiction with a bit of a mystery than this is the book for you. The writers being written about remind you that there is still great writing in the world and this book can't even come close to them. Overall, not a bad story but its lucky to get 3 stars from me.
