ReplyDeleteNeil Gaiman's Neverwhere and The Hobbit are comfort reads for me - not that they're necessarily soothintg reading as such, but the way in which they transport me into another world is comforting and just what I need when I'm agitated or sad.

ReplyDeleteWhen things become too much to handle and I need to take a step back, I'll re-read a Stephen King book or one of Robert B. Parker's wonderful Spencer novels or other series. Those books can restore my world back to its proper alignment.
