Sword of Time

Sword of Time (Ancient Blades, #1)Sword of Time by A.M. Sawyer

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I received a free copy of this book for my honest review.

Overall, I found this to be a good read with a lot of potential. Its a story that will be more appreciated by a young adult crowd, especially boys, than older adults. Its a story full of magic and action as 4 teens that have just graduated high school embark on a trip to the Outback and find themselves on an adventure to save the world.

The characters are four friends that are finding themselves on an improbably and impossible mission to defeat a powerfully magic madman. This is not a YA romance, what little romance this book contains definitely takes a back burner to the main plot of this story. Its a story woven with action and adventure which makes me say that this is a book that's more appealing to male teens. My biggest drawback to this book is in the details that seems to be overlooked. There seems to be no eating or drinking or resting throughout the book. No collecting of supplies, no finding water in the desert, no resting after walking all day. And while these things are tertiary they are details that add to the validity of the story, that bring it to life.

I think this story would be a good candidtate for a graphic novel with all the magic and action and interesting characters. In any case, if you enjoy YA books that center around magic, time travel, action, and special weapons you should look into this one.
