Both, actually... I love doing random acts of kindness and it seems I receive some as well :)
ReplyDeleteI always do it for myself. I reward myself something when I did a successful job.
ReplyDeleteI do both, there`s this meme RAK @BookSoulmates blog, where you can sign up and add your top wishlist books, then you just watch what others want too in the list and give them the books. I give as well as receive :)

At my game today for Scholastic Bowl, my team kindly warned the other team that their reader (of questions) was a bit grumpy and had a short temper and to watch out. :D

ReplyDeleteYes, a friend gave a lift the other day to run errands all day . I'm so very thankful for her! :D
ReplyDeleteI've done one myself yesterday. The poor man from the nesstand (he is really poor =/) never wants to accept my tips... what did I do? (and they are ilk cents! I asked him if a candie he would accept. He said "this I do"! <3 with twinkling eyes. Bought him a donnut we call Dream here in Brazil and he devoured it and found it so delicious and we were talking and it made me feel so good to see him happy <333 delightful! <333
ReplyDeleteThe most recent random act of kindness i've experienced was about a month ago. I was in a Chick-Fil-A drive thru and the car in front of me bought my meal. I was so happy to find that there are still selfless people in the world! Since my meal was paid for, I paid it forward and bought the meal of the car behind mine, even though it was $10 more than mine! I still felt really good doing it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this amazing giveaway!

ReplyDeleteWe usually do things for other people. This past year has been really bad for our family and if our neighbors hadn't been so kind, my son wouldn't have had much of a Christmas. I'm not going into all they did, but he will never know how close he came to Santa not being able to visit our house.

My mother-in-law is an expert on Random Acts of Kindness. She is truly a giving person. Most recently we invited her to a potluck at our church and she brought enough food to bring so that we didn't need to make anything else!
ReplyDeleteI like to leave little toys (for the children) or books at the park. I like to think someone will be happy to find them :D
ReplyDeleteI had to pick my hubby up a while back from his military training. We went out to eat at my fav Outback. When the waiter came to bring us our check, he told us some gentleman had paid for our dinners and said we were free to go. It was the nicest thing anyone has ever done and I will never forget it.
ReplyDeleteYes! Just Friday someone before me in line paid for my coffee so I paid it forward!
ReplyDeleteI help my 94 year old neighbor with her yard work. I also visit with her because I know she gets lonely so we have tea together.

Both actually I participate in the meme as well (RAK) by Book Soulmates , I try and do it every month if I can. If I can't afford to give those are the months I don't participate. It's such a fun meme and the best part is the reaction from the people that have been sent a book or two.

ReplyDeleteThank you for the giveaway! I try to do the #26Acts still.
ReplyDeleteI try to be nice everyday. I guess I don't even think about it, I let people who have less than I do, go in front of me in line, I always smile at people, if someone is a dollar or two short, I give them the money. I was raised to be that way, I just wish everyone was and I hope that someone I was nice to pays it forward.
ReplyDeleteMy boyfriend randomly bought me Sly Cooper 4 today - it was so sweet!
ReplyDeleteYes, especially with my family and friends. :)
ReplyDeleteMy parents always show RAKs towards me, so I try as much as I can to do the same for them. :)
ReplyDeleteI think one of the best acts of kindness is to see someone. Really see them. Sometimes I get frustrated with people, but if I allow myself to see them, their problems, their lives, their perspective, I'm able to be what they need. A shoulder to cry on, a sounding wall, even a temporary (verbal) punching bag at times. To be that person without judgement or retaliation is a wonderful act of kindness.
ReplyDeleteI bought my sister a pair of sandals that I knew you'd want :)
ReplyDeleteWhen I was about a week away from giving birth to my daughter, I went to Target to get last minute things (more diapers, wipes, cotton, ect..) While I was checking out a woman handed me a $100 bill and told me she wanted to wish me and my baby a happy and healthy life. It was so touching I couldn't help but cry. I tried to give the money back to her but she wouldn't take it. Since then I try to pay it forward.

ReplyDeleteThanks for this giveaway!. Once it was raining heavily here and I was walking towards the bus stand because rain or not, I had to go to work. But at one point I reached a place where there was too much water and I knew even in my high heels, it will be higher than my ankles. I was searching around to find a way around when a total stranger came towards me and dragged some bricks into my way. It was just 4 bricks placed at equal distances from each other, like a path!. I was so shocked. He didn’t wait around to be thanked. Just walked away!. I quickly crossed using the bricks and reached the bus stand.

ReplyDeleteWell, I don't know. I have never count any kindness that I made. I mean, when I gave my seat to a pregnant lady on the bus last week, is that count as a kindness? Well, I think it was a must, not just as a kindness.

ReplyDeleteSomeone offered to pick up my daughter and baby-sit for me when my husband went out of town without me having to ask them. So sweet to have friends who want to help out.

ReplyDeleteBonnie Hilligoss/bonhill@speakeasy.net
I've had both recently. Normally, I walk through my suburbs to pick up groceries, but it's winter, so it's cold, slick, and slippery. I was weighed down with totes full of groceries, and I had nice elderly woman offer me a ride back home. That made my day.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I was out shopping (at a local grocer about three blocks away) when I saw a lemon poppy-seed creme cake. I know that this is my mom's favorite store-bought dessert, so I purchased that and a box of her favorite tea. She was delighted when I returned home with them!
Both! Whenever my neighbor is coming home from the grocery store I rush out to help her. Several people I didn't know gave me some boxes they no longer had a need for and it made moving into our new apartment so much easier!
