Its time again for the Banned Books Giveaway Hop to bring attention to the growing trend of censoring books in schools and libraries. Censorship is an issue that is dear to me that I try to fight any way I can. As an adult I feel I should be able to make the choices as to what I read and as a parent I should be able to help my children make those choices. Books have been censored for many reasons: language, religion, ideas etc. But that means the ideas of a few are imposed on many. You can find more information about banned books at the American Library Association website.
Up for grabs is my copy of His Dark Materials. This is a large book that contains all three books of this series therefore it is a US only giveaway. Its not a requirement that you follow my blog but its always appreciated.
a Rafflecopter giveaway
I read ANY book I'm interested in ;)
ReplyDeleteI love Harry Potter and it was banned. I think some of the best books ever written have been banned at some point.
ReplyDeleteOf course I do. I don't believe any one has the right to take away a persons freedom of choice.
ReplyDeleteI read what I want to read. I don't believe anyone has the right to tell me what is "proper" reading material.
ReplyDeleteI read what I like. It's all in personal taste. If you don't want to read a book, don't.
ReplyDeleteI definitely read banned books! If the content/writing doesn't interest me, then I won't finish the book, but I think the option to try it out should always be available!
ReplyDeleteWould love to read the hunger games soon.
ReplyDeleteYes. I hear "banned" and I want to know why, so I end up reading them, just end up asking myself what's wrong with people these days.
ReplyDeleteYes, I read banned books. I don't think others should make my choices on what values I hold.
ReplyDeleteYep ;) I read what I want and sometimes when a book is banned it makes me want to read it even more, hehe. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteYes. I read what I want, banned or otherwise. No one has the right to dictate what another reads. The only exception is parents can ban a book from their child while the are still children, but even then it is up to the parent. Not the government, library or school.
ReplyDeleteYes, if I want to read a book, I will read it despite what other people say about it.
ReplyDeleteI read banned books!
